When the Selection tool <img src="images/P_Select_Lg_N.gif" alt="Selection tool " height="17" width="12" /> is in a position to select an element, an outline appears around the element; this outline helps you make sure that you're selecting the right text when text boxes overlap one another.</p></ol><p class="headstep">To select a single character or group of contiguous characters in a text box:</p><ol><li class="numberstep" type="1" value="1">Using the Selection tool, double-click the text box containing the text you want to select.
